Safeguarding Learners

We are committed to safeguarding the learners who attend sessions with us. All of our staff who have contact with learners have Enhanced DBS checks. We have all undertaken safeguarding training and this is updated regularly in accordance with recommendations from current guidance. We also recruit all of our staff using Safer Recruitment Procedures with senior staff undertaking Safer Recruitment training. We have policies in place for all aspects of safeguarding and have a culture of openness ensuring our learners feel safe and able to talk to staff about any concerns. All staff work to a Code of Behaviour and we also have a zero tolerance for bullying within our setting.

  • Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Heather Watson

  • Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and Director responsible for safeguarding is Dr Caroline Wingfield

  • Heather Watson is a Registered Nurse and both Heather and Sophie Taylor hold paediatric first aid qualifications

All of our policies and procedures are updated annually and all staff are familiar with the document Keeping Children Safe in Education (2018) and fully understand their roles in keeping our learners safe and responding to any concerns. We work closely with parents/carers and referrers/schools to ensure good communication regarding any issues.

As an Alternative Education Provider we submit annual audits of our safeguarding and safer recruitment procedures to Wiltshire Council. We also audit our safeguarding referrals bi-annually and report to our Board of Directors to ensure we are acting in line with guidance. We ensure confidentiality of our learners at all times adhering to our information sharing policy when liaising with other organisations.  Please also see our Privacy Statement.

Please see below for our safeguarding policy and a statement about our safeguarding procedures which schools/referrers can download when complying with best practice when working with Alternative Education Providers.

Learner attendance - we keep a record of the attendance of all learners and should they not arrive at a session we will phone the referrer or email keeping a record of who we contacted.
