How to make a referral?

Self referral:

If you would like to attend a session, please contact Heather on 07888 678239 to discuss your needs. Together we can decide on the details such as the objectives, timing, dates, and number of sessions, cost, and any extra requirements such as reports.

Health and social care professionals:

If you would like to refer a client then following discussion with them, and with their consent, please contact Heather on 07888 678239 outlining the reasons for referral and to discuss funding the sessions. We can then contact the client directly to assess their needs and to set up the sessions. With client consent we are able to write reports and liaise with you regarding the progress a client makes during the sessions.

Schools and Colleges:

If you would like to refer a learner for equine assisted learning then following discussion with the learner and their parents/carers, and with their consent, please contact Heather on 07888 678239 outlining the reasons for referral and to discuss funding for the sessions. We can then assess their needs and set up the sessions and enrol them for any qualifications if they wish to undertake one.

We mostly offer 1:1 sessions. Occasionally we may be able to take a group of a maximum of 4 learners with support from school. (Please note from September 2020 groups are currently on hold due to coronavirus restrictions and we will only accept referral for 1:1 sessions).

We welcome the opportunity during any programme to liaise with schools and parents about the progress of any learner undertaking equine assisted learning or to attend any relevant meetings. Staff from the school and parents/carers are welcome to attend the sessions as needed. A report outlining progress for each term will be sent at the end of Terms 2, 4 and 6 to the referrer.

Referral and Permission forms: A referral form must be completed before sessions can start

Following discussion with Heather please download the Proposal for Equine Assisted Learning form (using the buttons below) and complete and return to Heather. Our Terms of Business can also be downloaded for your own reference. The permission forms can be downloaded and brought along to the first session. We are committed to safeguarding our learners and our Safeguarding Policy and Statement can be also downloaded for the records of the referrer as required for Alternative Education Providers in Keeping Children Safe in Education (2018). Please also look under the safeguarding tab for our Covid19 policies and what to do on arrival at WEAL.
