Work Placements and Visitors

We are sorry that we are unable to offer work experience placements or professional visits as part of a course. We also cannot accept visitors to observe sessions unless they are working with a specific learner and we have authorised this. This is to ensure we safeguard our learners and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Wiltshire Equine Assisted Learning is a not for profit organisation with a small but supportive team. We are looking for an Equine Assisted Learning and Outdoor Learning Facilitator - 26 hours per week over 4 days (9-4pm), Term time only. Salary is £12 per hour for 35.5 weeks per year (plus 5.6 weeks holiday) averaged over the year with a monthly salary. To start 2nd September 2021. 

 

This job is an education role working with children and young people with SEND who need alternative education provision. This is not a job teaching riding but a job helping children and young people to develop self esteem, social communication skills and self confidence through working with animals and outdoors activities. Applicants should must have professional experience in teaching and ideally vocational assessing and teaching functional skills maths and english up to Level 2. The job involves holding a caseload of learners and designing bespoke 1:1 provision for each individual child or young person. You will be working with learners with complex and high levels of need which may be physical, psychological and behavioural. You should also have a high level of knowledge in the care of horses and other animals (such as alpacas, small animals, dogs) as this is an integral part of the role. A non judgemental, trauma informed and reflective way of working is highly important. You should be able to work independently to assess, plan, evaluate your learner sessions and the ability to write high quality professional reports. A very satisfying job and varied every day with a high level of autonomy. All applicants should be physically fit and be able to cope with extremes of weather!
