If you wish, you can work towards a nationally recognised qualification with RQF (previously QCF/NVQ) credits. Through our accreditation with Open Awards we are able to offer vocational qualifications such as animal care, horticulture or employability and functional skills in Maths and English.
There is no need to take any units or work towards a qualification if you’d simply like to experience equine assisted learning or work with the horses purely for your own learning. However, by combining your experience with the horses or the outdoors and one or more of our units, you will have a recognised outcome for your endeavours.
We offer units at different levels and in a range of subjects. You can work at the level which is most appropriate for you. Your facilitator will help you to choose a suitable subject and to work towards it. The learning for these qualifications naturally falls out of the sessions and we develop a portfolio to meet the criteria for each qualification. This way of learning is fun and offers the scope to be creative, playing to the strengths of each individual learner. The way in which evidence to meet the qualification criteria is collected for each portfolio is tailored to the needs of each individual.
Each qualification unit has a credit value and these can be completed in bite sized chunks at your own pace and then be combined to build a full qualification. All your achievements will be recorded centrally on an electronic record and that will remain with you throughout your life long learning.
Qualifications for our younger learners:
For our younger learners we have a bespoke Animal Care Award which focuses on communication skills, personal and social development. The learners have a workbook which they complete with the support of their facilitator encouraging writing and drawing. On completion of each unit they recieve a badge. When their workbook is finished they recieve a medal for their hard work! A wonderful achievement they can share with people at school and home.
